Petkovic’s Postgame Thoughts

June 12th, 2006 | By: Lyle | 17 Comments »

“It’s a real shame that we lost the way we did, because we didn’t deserve to lose this game. Anyway, congratulations to the Dutch, even though we were the ones who had the better chances. The goal we let in was predictable, but there was nothing we could do about it. The goal wasn’t a mistake from Nenad Djordjevic, so let’s skip that subject. We played really cautiously, we didn’t want our defence to be opened up, but unfortunately our attack didn’t work well today. We can definitely do better than this. We have a good team and we will do our best to finish second in the group. Furthermore I won’t discuss my tactics with the whole world, my team and I will speak about it behind closed doors. But things will change in tactical way, yes that’s true.”

that’s not true marco. the dutch deserved the win… but they didn’t dominate the game. the plavi had their chances and was the primary offensive force in the second half.

robben, by the way, was the only dangerous dutch player.

Spot on! The Dutch defiantly deserved the win but some silly tactics brought the Serbs down in this game. The coach made the mistakes and the team lost.

The coach didnot lose the game, the team did! Or maybe the sun was in their eyes!
The Dutch won deservedly because the serbs are not good enough!
Yes it was hot in Lepzig , the Dutch are not used to that. Had the game be played at night the real dutch treat would have been given to the serbs like more goals from other than Robben!

i dont think the dutch deserved that win. i dont know what kind of game you guys saw, but I didnt see a superior dutch team, just an unlucky serb team, that couldnt score the deserved equalizer…

Our set piece construction was pretty poor though yes we where unlucky plus i don’t think savo has got it in him anymore bring in koroman our saviour! also i think zigic was not fully utalised more crosses should have been thrown to him to head into goal like jan koller did not long ago

The dutch had way more fans, they just had to cross the boarder and drive a few hours. If you have seen our passing in deffense from Duljaj and Nadj and our dribling by Koroman, Stankovic and Djordjevic, you would have seen how technically
superiour we still are towards the anglo germanic teams. Sorry guys but its visable. That goal was on the break where the more physical teams (anglo germanic teams).

Zigic too! whats with all the dribling around the sides when he came on… where were the crosses.

serbia and montenegro looked good later in the game. defended well throughout except on that goal. robben’s speed was too much for them though… at least early on.

It’s showtime and Serbia must revive the golden generation of European footbal, it’s live or die for us. WE CAN DO IT. Pokazat cemo mi Argentincima ko smo i sta smo. Samo Naprijed Srbija.
